Prenatal betamethasone–postnatal N‐methyl‐D‐aspartic acid model of spasms: Update on mechanisms and treatments

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Infantile epilepsy spasms syndrome (IESS), formerly known as infantile spasms or West Syndrome, is a severe epilepsy syndrome affecting about 3 in 10,000 newborns in the United States. Characterized by clusters of epileptic spasms, interictal hypsarrhythmia, and developmental delays, IESS has diverse causes, including structural‐metabolic ...

Composite autogenous bone and demineralized bone matrices used to repair defects in the parietal bone of rabbits

open access: yes, 2000
We compared the amount of new bone produced by endochondral and intramembranous autogenous bone grafts in the presence of demineralized bone matrices (DBMs) prepared from intramembranous bone (DBM(IM)) or endochondral bone (DBM(EC)).

Epilepsy surgery: From bench to the clinics

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Recent advances in epilepsy surgery in patients with intractable epilepsy make it possible to study the mechanism of epilepsy in human brains. However, the true extent and propagation of each epileptogenic area from the epileptogenic focus in each patient is still difficult to perform “epilepsy cure” by surgery.

Characteristics and long‐term outcomes of children with confirmed focal cortical dysplasia type 1 after epilepsy surgery: A population‐based study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Focal cortical dysplasia type 1 (FCD1) is a rare and heterogeneous cause of drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) in children. Its clinical characteristics remain poorly understood, and surgical outcomes may be less favorable than in FCD2. We conducted a population‐based study to characterize the clinical presentation and long‐term seizure ...

An Anatomical Investigation Regarding the Parietal Foramen in 174 Adult Parietal Bones

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Practice and Research
Investigating all anatomical aspects of the parietal foramen (PF) is essential. This study aimed to examine the anatomical features of the PF.A total of 174 dry adult human parietal bones (81 right and 93 left) were carefully examined. The frequency, shape, and direction of the PF were recorded.

Holistic bone developing microenvironment engineered apoptotic extracellular vesicles recapitulate multidimensional developmental signatures in adult and senile bone repair

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The developing bone was identified as an M2a‐like macrophage driven immune microenvironment with multidimensional developmental signatures. hME‐ApoEVs were successfully fabricated via stimulating the M2a‐like developing microenvironment in vitro and confirmed its recapitulation of developmental features.

Impacts of ultrasonic osteotomy devices on bone regeneration and brain activity in a mouse model

open access: yesScientific Reports
Ultrasonic osteotomy devices (UODs) have emerged as precise bone-cutting instruments with soft tissue-sparing benefits; yet their impact on bone healing and adjacent neural tissue remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the effects of UODs

Effects of Ovariectomy and Low-Calcium Diet on Six Different Sites of the Rat Skeleton

open access: yesBiomimetics
The aim of this study was to evaluate structural and micro-architectural changes in the mandible, parietal bone, femur, and tibia in OVX rats at different time periods after ovariectomy. Forty-two 11-month-old female Wistar rats were used.

Multiecho Fat‐Water Spiral MR Elastography With Distributed Encoding for Simultaneously Imaging Brain and Skull Displacement

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To introduce a novel multiecho, multishot spiral MR elastography (MRE) sequence to image brain and skull displacement simultaneously using a joint fat‐water image reconstruction and distributed motion encoding. Methods Multiple echo times were implemented into a high‐resolution multishot spiral MRE sequence to capture water‐based brain
