Somatosensory aura in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy: semiologic characteristics, MRI findings and differential diagnosis with parietal lobe epilepsy [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: Somatosensory auras (SSAs) are more usually described in patients with parietal lobe epilepsy (PLE), producing more commonly a localized cutaneous tingling sensation, involving hands and fingers followed by tonic or clonic focal seizures. These usually originate in the contralateral hemisphere.

Abstract Objective To identify clinically meaningful patterns in ictal electroclinical features of focal epilepsy using a data‐driven, unsupervised learning approach, and to assess whether such patterns can localize and lateralize the epileptogenic zone (EZ) more accurately than conventional electroclinical interpretation.

Functional MRI in epilepsy – Comparison of Lateralization index and language scoring
Aims: To evaluate the role of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in epilepsy management and to ascertain whether laterality index (LI) derived from fMRI data, using routinely utilized paradigms, can serve as an adjunct to/or replace ...

Combined EEG-fMRI and tractography to visualise propagation of epileptic activity
In a patient with refractory temporal lobe epilepsy, EEG-fMRI showed activation in association with left anterior temporal interictal discharges, in the left temporal, parietal and occipital lobes. Dynamic causal modelling suggested propagation of neural

Localizing value of cutaneous ictal phenomena: A systematic review
Abstract Objective Clinical observation of autonomic signs during seizures can aid in localizing the epileptogenic zone (EZ). We performed a systematic review and meta‐analysis to evaluate the localizing value of ictal cutaneous phenomena—piloerection, sweating, pallor, and flushing—in focal epilepsy and their relevance to presurgical evaluation ...

Body image distortions following spinal cord injury
Background: Following spinal cord injury (SCI) or anaesthesia, people may continue to experience feelings of the size, shape, and posture of their body, suggesting that the conscious body image is not fully determined by immediate sensory signals.

Pathology of Visual Memory in Patients with Epilepsy
Background: Epileptic seizures have destructive effects on the brain, because they intervene in healthy and normal brain processes, and create interference at different stages of memory and cause malfunction in its performance and function, especially in
