An enigmatic inflorescence from the Paleocene of the Paris Basin.

The end of the Paleocene was a time of significant global warming, culminating in the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), which marks its boundary. This warming favored tropical floras, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere, and allowed the emergence of modern groups as early as the beginning of the Eocene.
