A Decade of Drilling Innovation and Progress in the Paris Basin

Summary Since 1979, Esso Rep has drilled more than 150 exploration and development wells in the Paris basin. A cost-per-foot reduction of more than 40% was achieved despite a near doubling of rig rates. This paper discusses the unique directional drilling approach used and the drilling, formation evaluation, and contracting techniques.

A long core (1110 m) drilled at Montcornet (northeastern Paris Basin) provides early Jurassic magnetostratigraphic data coupled with biochronological control. About 600 paleomagnetic samples were obtained from a 148‐m‐thick series of Hettangian and Sinemurian rocks.

The Mesolithic-Neolithic transition in the Paris Basin: a review

The last thirty years have seen increasing numbers of excavations of early Neolithic settlements in the main Paris Basin river valleys. These early Neolithic sites can be seen as part of the Danubian period, and specifically belong to the Rubané and Villeneuve–Saint-Germain–Blicquy cultures.
