Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Dynamic Information-Based Parking Guidance for Megacities considering Both Public and Private Parking

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2017
The constantly increasing number of cars in the megacities is causing severe parking problems. To resolve this problem, many cities adopt parking guidance system as a part of intelligent transportation system (ITS).

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Enumeration of minimal acyclic automata via generalized parking functions [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2015
We give an exact enumerative formula for the minimal acyclic deterministic finite automata. This formula is obtained from a bijection between a family of generalized parking functions and the transitions functions of acyclic automata.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Coding Parking Functions by Pairs of Permutations [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2003
We introduce a new class of admissible pairs of triangular sequences and prove a bijection between the set of admissible pairs of triangular sequences of length $n$ and the set of parking functions of length $n$. For all $u$ and $v=0,1,2,3$ and all $n\le 7$ we describe in terms of admissible pairs the dimensions of the bi-graded components $h_{u,v ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Acyclic and parking functions

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, 1975
AbstractA large class of one-to-one correspondences is given between acyclic and parking functions, generalizing a previous construction given by Foata and Riordan.
