Strategy of Neck Dissection in Parotid Cancer.

open access: yesNippon Jibiinkoka Gakkai Kaiho, 2002
We conducted definitive surgery on 45 patients with untreated primary parotid cancer from 1975 to 1995, and evaluated methods of neck dissection and results of treatment. All 14 with clinical neck lymph node metastasis underwent ipsilateral radical neck dissection and only 1 developed neck lymph node recurrence at the peripheral dissected site.

Clock Genes Regulate Ca2+ Signaling and Mitochondrial Bioenergetics to Inhibit Sjögren Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Although Ca2+ signaling and metabolism have been identified as key determinants for the development of Sjögren disease (SjD), the intricate connection between them and salivary gland physiology remains poorly understood. Methods Fluorescence‐based Ca2+ imaging, RNA sequencing, and mitochondrial activity were used to investigate the effects of

3D-Conformal Radiation Therapy and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy Techniques for Laryngeal Cancer Taking Parotid Glands as Organ at Risk [PDF]

open access: yesHospital Practices and Research, 2020
Background: Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques are used for the treatment of patients with laryngeal cancer. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of these 2 treatment

Conservative parotidectomy for the treatment of parotid cancers

open access: yesOral Oncology, 2005
A conservative parotidectomy is defined as any procedure that is less than a classic superficial parotidectomy, and where less than a full facial nerve is dissected. The aim of this study was to evaluate the oncologic effects of a conservative parotidectomy in a series of patients with malignant tumors of the parotid gland.

Maximizing Neurovascular Outcomes of Facial Transplantation: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Facial transplantation is a division of reconstructive surgery which aims to improve the function and appearance of a face that has endured severe disfigurement. Currently, the face transplant procedure uses allogenic tissue, harvested from a brain‐dead donor, to replace damaged facial components.

An evidence-based analysis of the management of N0 neck in patients with cancer of the parotid gland

open access: yes, 2019
Introduction: Management of clinically negative neck (cN0) in patients with parotid gland cancer is controversial. Treatment options can include observation, elective neck dissection or elective radiotherapy.

Oncocytic carcinoma of parotid gland

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2023
Of 0.5% all epithelial salivary gland malignancies are oncocytic cancers, a rare kind of parotid gland cancer. Clinical signs include discomfort and swelling in the cheek region, and the facial nerve is occasionally affected, leading to unilateral facial

Use of the Ion Robot in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Nodules: Fine Needle Aspiration Versus Cryobiopsy

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Robotic‐assisted bronchoscopy platforms provide an innovative approach to the sampling of pulmonary nodules. As compared to other technologies, fiber‐optic shape‐sensing instrumentation allows for a more precise, accurate location and sampling of the target lesion with fewer complications.

AKT, ATR, and Notch Inhibitors Radiosensitize a Preclinical Model of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and lethal type of head and neck cancer. Standard therapy involves surgery followed by radiation therapy. The majority of ACC has MYB overexpression and MYB‐NFIB gene fusions, while Notch mutations are associated with aggressive behavior.
