Ultrasound of the parotid gland

Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 1976
AbstractFive cases of parotid gland masses were studied by ultrasound. Only retention cysts and true cysts of the parotid gland appear sonolucent at low and high gain settings. Sialolipoma of the Parotid Gland

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2009
A 33-year-old male patient with a slow-growing, painless, well-circumscribed soft tissue mass on the left parotid region is presented. The clinical impression was that of a benign salivary gland tumor. Lipoma of the Parotid Gland

The Neuroradiology Journal, 2008
We describe three cases of parotid gland lipoma, a relatively rare, asymptomatic, slow growing, freely movable, soft tissue mass. Preoperative clinical diagnosis is generally difficult but MRI using fat saturation techniques provides accurate diagnostic information regarding this benign parotid gland tumor, enabling better treatment planning.

Lipomas of the parotid gland

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1981
Abstract Parotid gland lipomas are slowly growing, asymptomatic, nontender masses. They are rare lesions and exhibit no unique clinical features. There is no reliable method of establishing a preoperative diagnosis; therefore, treatment must conform to established principles of parotid gland surgery.

Parotid gland tumors

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1970
Summary One hundred cases of parotid tumors are presented and studied from a clinicopathologic viewpoint. The clinical features of the tumor had no definite bearing on the final histopathologic type of tumor and, therefore, were not reliable guides for the preoperative diagnosis and treatment of parotid tumors.

Carcinoma of the parotid gland

The American Journal of Surgery, 1977
Sixty-nine patients with parotid gland cancer were studied at the Cancer Control Agency of British Columbia; half were treated successfully. Localized cancers should be treated by total parotidectomy with facial nerve preservation. Facial nerve sacrifice and radical neck dissection for metastatic lymph nodes may be required.

LEIOMYOSARCOMA OF THE PAROTID GLAND

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1983
An unusual case of leiomyosarcoma of the parotid gland is reported. The tumour recurred thrice and metastasized to one of the adjacent lymph nodes. Histologically, a leiomyosarcoma in the salivary gland closely resembles a tumour of myoepithelial cells origin but lacks the dual cell morphology seen in the latter.
