Sotalol for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1990
Used in adequate dosages, sotalol is efficacious in the conversion of acute supraventricular arrhythmias, an effect that is predictable on the basis of the drug's known electropharmacologic actions. Electrophysiologic studies have shown that both oral and intravenous sotalol are effective in preventing the induction of sustained arrhythmias and that ...

Swallowing-induced paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia

Journal of Electrocardiology, 1980
This report describes an unusual case of swallowing-induced paroxysmal supraventricular (atrial or junctional) tachycardia in a young man without evidence of organic cardiac or esophageal disease. The arrhythmia was apparently potentiated by excessive coffee ingestion.

Chronobiology of Symptomatic Supraventricular Paroxysmal Tachycardia

Biological Rhythm Research, 1998
The circadian, circaseptenal and circaannual occurrence of supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardias (SVPT) were examined in patients addressing an Emergency Department. Sixty-one patients, 22 men and 39 women aged 48.3+13.0 y, were eligible and investigated during a solar year.

Circadian Variation of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia

Chest, 1999
Various clinical manifestations of cardiovascular diseases have a pattern of circadian variation. In this study, we investigated whether the onset and duration of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) has a circadian variation. In our analysis, we included 105 patients with 498 PSVT episodes.

Neonatal Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia With Hydrops

Pediatrics, 1975
A critically ill infant with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and hydrops fetalis responded well to aggressive management. Care must be taken to avoid digitalis toxicity. Procaine amide or quinidine are effective alternate therapies.

[Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia].

Anales espanoles de pediatria, 1991
We report 65 cases (1970-1989). They were processing in a data base program for cardiology records. A number of selected variables, were analysed by un statistical package. The results of 230 statistical tests between means, percentage and correlations, point out statistical value on prognosis forecast.

PHENYLEPHRINE HYDROCHLORIDE IN PAROXYSMAL SUPRAVENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1955
Phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine) hydrochloride was first suggested as an effective drug in the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia by Youmans and his group in 1947. Since this time others have mentioned its use and at the same time suggested that the drug was relatively innocuous in the absence of heart disease.

Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia

2018
1. An aberrant conduction pathway between ventricles and atria allows impulses to be conducted in a circular pathway, without involving the SA node. The ECG shows rapid, narrow complexes without visible p-waves. 2. Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) has become nearly synonymous with its most common variant, called ...

Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia: Experience with Propafenone

Angiology, 1989
The authors studied the efficacy of intravenous (IV) (1.5-2 mg/kg) and oral propafenone (450 to 900 mg/day) in 16 patients with paroxysmal, sus tained, recurrent supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). In 5 patients IV propafenone was not given, because of intolerant SVT. Nine patients had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

[Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia].

Revue medicale de Liege, 2004
Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias are often encountered in young and otherwise healthy patients. They are rarely life threatening even though they may alter the quality of life. In this article, we review the acute treatment of an episod of tachycardia and the prevention of recurrences.
