ABSTRACT Invertebrate burrow morphologies and distributions are presented for the tidal flats of the middle and lower reaches of the tide‐influenced (mesotidal), mud‐dominated Mira River estuary (SW Portugal) as an analogue for interpreting the ichnology of palaeoestuarine successions.
