CONJUNCTIVAL PIGMENTATION FOLLOWING PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY
Retina, 1987A 32-year-old white man developed distinctive episcleral and conjunctival pigmentation surrounding a sclerotomy site 6 weeks after vitrectomy and retinal reattachment surgery. The conjunctival lesion was biopsied during a second operation to remove an epiretinal membrane causing macular pucker.

Aerosol generation through pars plana vitrectomy
British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020PurposeTo assess whether pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is an aerosol-generating procedure (AGP) in an ex vivo experimental model.MethodsIn this ex vivo study on 10 porcine eyes, optical particle counter was used to measure particles ≤10 μm using cumulative mode in the six in-built channels: 0.3 μm, 0.5 μm, 1 μm, 2.5 μm, 5 μm and 10 μm aerosols during PPV.

Sixty-four consecutive pars plana vitrectomies were performed with the Douvas roto-extractor for anterior and posterior vitreous opacities. Eighty-four per cent of the anterior segment vitrectomy patients obtained improvement in visual acuity after surgery. Only 60% of the posterior segment patients obtained improvement in visual acuity, while only 45%

20-Gauge Transconjunctival Pars Plana Vitrectomy
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2007<P>This article describes a transconjunctival technique for pars plana vitrectomy using 20-gauge instruments. Sclerotomies are performed directly through the conjunctiva, Tenon’s capsule, and sclera with a 19-gauge microvitreoretinal blade.

PROGNOSTIC PARAMETERS IN PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1983Based on a period of introduction with the vitrectomy technic the visual acuity results in 143 consecutive cases performed between 1976 and 1980 are related to the anamnestic information, the pre‐, per‐ and post‐operative findings. In this introductional period the patients referred had longstanding retinovitreal changes, and, because of lack of ...

Endophthalmitis after Pars Plana Vitrectomy
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1977In three cases of bacterial endophthalmitis following pars plana vitrectomy the important diagnostic findings included increased orbital pain, decreased visual acuity, and the presence of a hypopyon. Despite agressive antibiotic therapy, all three eyes became blind, and two progressed rapidly to phthisis.

Pars Plana Vitrectomy in Ocular Trauma
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1979Visual improvement was achieved in 62% of 100 consecutive patients with ocular trauma treated by pars plana vitrectomy. Anterior segment injuries had a better prognosis than posterior segment injuries, and retinal detachment was a poor prognostic sign.
