Abstract The decomposition of allochthonous organic matter, such as leaves, is a crucial ecosystem process in low‐order streams. Microbial communities, including fungi and bacteria, colonize allochthonous organic material, break up large molecules, and increase the nutritional value for macroinvertebrates.

Laves phases: superstructures induced by coloring and distortions
Abstract The structural chemistry of Laves phases, especially with respect to their superstructures induced by coloring and distortions is discussed. Starting from the three classical Laves phases MgCu2, MgZn2 and MgNi2, the more complex Komura phases are derived. Different possibilities of their description are summarized.

The number of Wyckoff sequences of a given subdivision complexity is calculated by means of a generating polynomial approach and a dynamic programming approach. The result depends on the choice of space‐group symmetry (which is obligatory) and Wyckoff sequence length (which is optional).

Abstract Data on cross‐neutralization of the SARS‐CoV‐2 omicron variant more than 1 year after SARS‐CoV‐2 infection are urgently needed, especially in children, to predict the likelihood of reinfection and to guide vaccination strategies. In a prospective observational cohort study, we evaluated live‐virus neutralization of the SARS‐CoV‐2 omicron (BA.1)

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to determine the risk of post‐acute sequelae of COVID‐19 associated with the continuous spectrum of BMI. Methods Epidemiology of Long COVID (EPILOC) is a population‐based study conducted in Baden‐Württemberg (Germany), including subjects aged 18 to 65 years who tested positive for SARS‐CoV‐2 between October ...

Evaluating crystal structure packings using coordinate root‐mean‐square deviation (RMSD) for N molecules (or N asymmetric units) in a reproducible manner requires metrics to describe the shape of the compared molecular clusters to account for alternative approaches used to prioritize selection of molecules.

A Python 3 software package for precise calculation of X‐ray structure factors of α‐quartz over a wide temperature range is presented. α‐Quartz was chosen because of its practical application in high‐resolution X‐ray spectroscopy, but this software package can be easily extended to other crystals. The design of X‐ray optics based on diffraction from ...

Abstract Anthropogenic chemicals in freshwater environments contribute majorly to ecosystem degradation and biodiversity decline. In particular anthropogenic organic micropollutants (AOM), a diverse group of compounds, including pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals, can significantly impact freshwater organisms.
