Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The impact of new signals on precise marine navigation - initial results from an experiment in Harwich Harbour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The General Lighthouse Authorities of the United Kingdom and Ireland (GLAs) are supporting a project at University College London (UCL) to study whether it is possible to meet the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) future requirements for port ...

Spectral magnetic helicity of solar active regions between 2006 and 2017

open access: yes, 2019
We compute magnetic helicity and energy spectra from about 2485 patches of about 100 megameters (Mm) side length on the solar surface using data from Hinode during 2006--2017. An extensive database is assembled where we list magnetic energy and helicity,

The Grail theorem prover: Type theory for syntax and semantics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
As the name suggests, type-logical grammars are a grammar formalism based on logic and type theory. From the prespective of grammar design, type-logical grammars develop the syntactic and semantic aspects of linguistic phenomena hand-in-hand, letting the

Multiple integer candidates ambiguity resolution: a unification ambiguity resolution algorithm

open access: yesSatellite Navigation
Among all the ambiguity resolution techniques, the Full Ambiguity Resolution (FAR), Partial Ambiguity Resolution (PAR) and Best Integer Equivariant (BIE) estimator are widely used.

Age‐Related Characteristics of SYT1‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives We describe the clinical manifestations and developmental abilities of individuals with SYT1‐associated neurodevelopmental disorder (Baker‐Gordon syndrome) from infancy to adulthood. We further describe the neuroradiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the condition at different ages, and explore the associations ...

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Developmental, Neuroanatomical and Cellular Expression of Genes Causing Dystonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Dystonia is one of the most common movement disorders, with variants in multiple genes identified as causative. However, an understanding of which developmental stages, brain regions, and cell types are most relevant is crucial for developing relevant disease models and therapeutics.

An outburst of the magnetic cataclysmic variable XY Arietis observed with RXTE

open access: yes, 1997
We report the first observed outburst of the magnetic cataclysmic variable XY Ari. X-ray observations show a flux increase by an order of magnitude the day after the first signs of outburst.

On correspondences between toric singularities and (p,q) webs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We study four-dimensional N=1 gauge theories which arise from D3-brane probes of toric Calabi-Yau threefolds. There are some standing paradoxes in the literature regarding relations among (p,q)-webs, toric diagrams and various phases of the gauge ...
