Presentations for monoids of finite partial isometries [PDF]
In this paper we give presentations for the monoid $\mathcal{DP}_n$ of all partial isometries on $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ and for its submonoid $\mathcal{ODP}_n$ of all order-preserving partial isometries.

Non-Parametric 3D Shape Warping
A method is presented for non-rigid alignment of a source shape to a target shape through estimating and interpolating point-wise correspondences between their surfaces given as point clouds.

Design and Analysis of Compression–Torsion Coupling Metamaterials Using the Golden Section Method
A novel compression–torsion metamaterial is engineered using inclined rods and symmetry breaking. To optimize its torsional performance, the golden section method is employed. The mechanical response of the metamaterial is validated through both numerical analysis and experimental validation.

Polar factorization of a matrix
It is known that if A is a bounded linear operator with closed range on a Hilbert space then A can be factored as A=UH, with U a partial isometry and H non-negative and self adjoint.

Review of Thermally Activated Twisted Coiled Polymer Actuators: A Materials Science Perspective
Thermally activated twisted and coiled polymer actuators (TCPAs) combine lightweight design, large deformation, and scalable fabrication for soft robotic and wearable applications. This review connects polymer structure, processing history, helix geometry, and thermomechanical characterization to actuator performance, highlighting current challenges in

Property A and CAT(0) cube complexes
Property A is a non-equivariant analogue of amenability defined for metric spaces. Euclidean spaces and trees are examples of spaces with Property A.

E. coli Extracellular Matrix: A Tunable Composite With Hierarchical Structure
The complex composite‐like mechanical behavior of E. coli biofilm matrix is the result of a synergic contribution of the rigid curli and swelling pEtN‐cellulose, and emerges from specific ratio and assembly conditions. The interactions between the two fibers govern biofilm hydration and characteristic wrinkling patterns, providing crucial insights for ...

Function theory, geometry, and circular numerical ranges
We introduce the reader to partial isometries and their properties. In particular, we consider the Gau-Wang-Wu conjecture from 2016: When is the numerical range of a partial isometry circular?

Transferring functional grasps through contact warping and local replanning
We present a method for transferring grasps between objects of the same functional category. This transfer is intended to preserve the functionality of a grasp constructed for one of the objects, thus enabling the analogous action to be performed on a ...
