Marginal Screening for Partial Least Squares Regression

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Partial least squares (PLS) regression is a versatile modeling approach for high-dimensional data analysis. Recently, PLS-based variable selection has attracted great attention due to high-throughput data reduction and modeling interpretability. In this paper, a class of variable selection methods for PLS, which employs marginal screening approaches to

Comparison of partial least squares regression and principal component regression for pelvic shape prediction.

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studied two different regression techniques for pelvic shape prediction, i.e., the partial least square regression (PLSR) and the principal component regression (PCR).

The Performances of Hyperspectral Sensors for Proximal Sensing of Nitrogen Levels in Wheat

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The accurate and high throughput quantification of nitrogen (N) content in wheat using non-destructive methods is an important step towards identifying wheat lines with high nitrogen use efficiency and informing agronomic management practices.

Chemometric and QSAR analysis of some thiadiazines as potential antifungal agents [PDF]

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica, 2017
Quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analysis has been performed in order to predict the antifungal activity of dihydroindeno and indeno thiadiazines against toxigenic fungus Aspergillus flavus.

Modeling Significant Wave Heights for Multiple Time Horizons Using Metaheuristic Regression Methods

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The study examines the applicability of six metaheuristic regression techniques—M5 model tree (M5RT), multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), principal component regression (PCR), random forest (RF), partial least square regression (PLSR) and ...

Deep partial least squares for instrumental variable regression

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, 2023
AbstractIn this paper, we propose deep partial least squares for the estimation of high‐dimensional nonlinear instrumental variable regression. As a precursor to a flexible deep neural network architecture, our methodology uses partial least squares for dimension reduction and feature selection from the set of instruments and covariates.

Non-destructive evaluation of soluble solid content in fruits with various skin thicknesses using visible–shortwave near-infrared spectroscopy

open access: yesOpen Agriculture, 2023
Visible–shortwave near-infrared spectroscopy has been used for internal quality measurement, but the optical penetration to the thickness of fruit skin becomes a challenge.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
