Fixed points and completeness on partial metric spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recently, Suzuki [T. Suzuki, A generalized Banach contraction principle that characterizes metric completeness, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 136 (2008), 1861-1869] proved a fixed point theorem that is a generalization of the Banach contraction principle and ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Some Common Fixed Point Theorems in Partial Metric Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2011
Many problems in pure and applied mathematics reduce to a problem of common fixed point of some self-mapping operators which are defined on metric spaces.

Partially ordered metric spaces produced by T0-quasi-metrics

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 2016
A \textit{partially ordered metric space} is a triple \((X,m,\leqslant)\) where, as expected, \((X,m)\) is a metric space and \((X,\leqslant)\) is a partially ordered set. Given a set \(X\), a function \(d: X \times X \rightarrow [0,\infty)\) is said to be a \textit{quasi-pseudometric} if (a) \(d(x,x) = 0\) for all \(x \in X\); and (b) \(d(x,z ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

An Improvement of Recent Fixed Point Results in Double-Composed Partial Metric Spaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences
More recently, a new concept of double-composed partial metric space has been introduced, and the related Banach type and Kannan type fixed point results have been established.

Partial Metrics Viewed as w-Distances: Extending Some Powerful Fixed-Point Theorems

open access: yesMathematics
Involving w-distances and hybrid contractions that combine conditions of the Ćirić type and Samet et al. type, we obtain some general fixed-point results for quasi-metric spaces from which powerful and significant fixed-point theorems on partial metric ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Linear and Nonlinear Perturbed Wave Equations

open access: yes, 2008
We consider several Cauchy problems for the wave equation with some perturbation. First of all, we consider the wave equation with a metric perturbation, that is, we consider the d'Alembert operator in the Schwarzschild metric (which is a model for a ...

Configuration spaces of thick particles on graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this thesis, we study the topology of configuration spaces of particles of variable radius r>0 moving on a metric graph. Our main tool is a piecewise linear (PL) Morse-Bott theory for affine polytope complexes, which extends the Morse theory for such ...
