Patient Expectations in High‐Risk Abdominal Surgery for Cancer

open access: yesHealth Expectations, Volume 29, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Despite the central role of expectations in informed consent and surgical shared decision‐making, patient expectations frequently remain unelicited or underexplored and are often assumed rather than explicitly addressed. Objective To explore how patients form expectations about high‐risk abdominal surgery for cancer and how ...

3D Reconstruction and Holographic XR Navigation in Robot‐Assisted Sacrocolpopexy: A Report of Two Cases

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research, Volume 52, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Dissection at the sacral promontory during robot‐assisted sacrocolpopexy (RSC) is technically demanding because of the proximity of major vascular structures and anatomical variability. We report two cases of RSC in which preoperative three‐dimensional (3D) reconstructed imaging and holographic extended reality (XR) visualization were used for

Machine Perfusion and Mitigating Risk Factors for Delayed Graft Function in Pediatric Kidney Transplant Recipients

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2026.
In a single‐center retrospective study of 89 pediatric kidney transplant recipients, warm ischemia time > 43.5 min and deceased donor kidneys were associated with delayed graft function (DGF), while machine perfusion appeared protective (0% vs. 26% DGF). These findings suggest machine perfusion may mitigate DGF risk in pediatric kidney transplantation.

Low Rate of Urological Complications in Pediatric Kidney Transplantation Using a Stentless Ureteral Anastomosis

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2026.
Among 107 consecutive pediatric kidney transplant recipients who received no stent placement at the time of transplant, the observed percentage who developed a urologic complication during the first 12 months post‐transplant was 3.7% (4/107). Our experience demonstrates that a standardized stentless extravesical ureteroneocystostomy technique in ...

Electronic patient blood management monitoring using routine health record data: A proof‐of‐principle study monitoring perioperative tranexamic acid use

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 66, Issue 8, Page 1506-1519, August 2026.
Abstract Background Monitoring Patient Blood Management (PBM) practices against evidence‐based standards is essential for quality improvement; however, current approaches are limited. In the UK, perioperative tranexamic acid (TXA) use is a national quality standard, yet monitoring relies on manual audit cycles that are resource‐intensive and limited in
