Is the End-tidal Anesthetic Partial Pressure an Accurate Measure of the Arterial Anesthetic Partial Pressure?

Anesthesiology, 1971
Ninety-four sets of inspired, end-tidal and arterial samples were drawn from 17 human subjects anesthetized with halothane in oxygen or halothane in nitrous oxide. The arterial halothane partial pressure was less than the end-tidal pressure which, in turn, was less than that inspired.

Disjoining Pressure in Partial Wetting on the Nanoscale

Langmuir, 2017
Partial wetting on the nanoscale may result in the formation of sessile liquid nanodroplets on flat substrates. In this case, the molecular forces generate a strong interaction between nanodroplet interfaces. This interaction is expressed in the mean-field approximation by the disjoining pressure and determines an important deviation from the spherical

Partial Pressure of Ammonia in Alveolar Air

Science, 1959
The partial pressure of ammonia in alveolar air was measured and found to be the same (within the limits of experimental error) as the calculated partial pressure of ammonia in arterial plasma. It is likely that ammonia is equilibrated between alveolar air and the blood during its passage through the pulmonary capillaries.

Partial pressure measurement standard for characterizing partial pressure analyzers and measuring outgassing rates

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 2015
In this work, a measurement standard was established for partial pressures in high and ultrahigh vacuum conditions. Three (or more, with higher uncertainty) different gases with known partial pressures from 10−8 to 10−2 Pa can be generated in a calibration chamber of an ultrahigh vacuum system by a continuous expansion method.

NGOs under Pressure in Partial Democracies

2014
Over the past decade, international human rights organizations and think tanks have expressed a growing concern that the space of civil society organizations around the world is under pressure. This book examines the pressures experienced by NGOs in four partial democracies: Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia and the Philippines.
