A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Whale optimization‐based PTS scheme for PAPR reduction in UFMC systems

open access: yesIET Communications
This paper proposes a whale optimization algorithm (WOA)‐based partial transmit sequence (PTS) scheme called WOA‐PTS to reduce the high peak‐to‐average power ratio (PAPR) for universal filtered multi‐carrier (UFMC) systems.

Association Between Motor Pathway Damage and Motor Deficit in Upper and Lower Limb in People With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Corticospinal tract damage is common in people with MS, but the degree of clinical symptoms varies. We hypothesize that corticospinal tract lesions are more extensive and severe in people with MS with motor impairments in both upper and lower limbs.

Enhanced Sub-Block Partitioning and Effective Post-Processing for the PTS Algorithm

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences
The transmitted OFDM is a multicarrier modulation technique for efficient and reliable data communication. This technique forces a major problem during the signal transmission process, which is a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), leading to ...

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Reducing peak-to-average power ratio of filtered non-orthogonal multiple access and new radio 5g waveforms using hybrid partial transmit sequence-companding technique

open access: yesETRI Journal
For fifth-generation (5G) and beyond 5G communications, filtered nonortho-gonal multiple access (F-NOMA) can be used as a waveform contender. Filtering-based waveform frameworks provide suppression of out-of-band emission (OOBE) and asynchronous ...

PAPR analysis in OTFS using the centre phase sequence matrix based PTS method

open access: yesResults in Optics
Orthogonal time–frequency space (OTFS) is a multicarrier modulation technique for high-speed data transfer in wireless communications. In an OTFS system, many subcarriers are used to send the modulated symbols. This makes OTFS signals have a high peak-to-
