Peak-to-average power ratio reduction of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals using improved salp swarm optimization-based partial transmit sequence model

open access: yesETRI Journal
Several peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction methods have been used in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) applications. Among the available methods, partial transmit sequence (PTS) is an efficient PAPR reduction method but can be ...

A Hybrid PAPR Reduction Method Based on SLM and Multi-Data Block PTS for FBMC/OQAM Systems

open access: yesInformation, 2018
The filter bank multicarrier employing offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) is a candidate transmission scheme for 5G wireless communication systems. However, it has a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Due to the nature of overlapped

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Two-stage collaborative information interaction reliability improvement for the distribution grid

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
The impulse noise generated by a large volume of power electronics devices imposes a hazardous impact on information interaction reliability in low-voltage distribution grids.

An Efficient Transmission Scheme for DCSK Cooperative Communication Over Multipath Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Differential-chaos-shift-keying cooperative communication (DCSK-CC) has attracted a great deal of attention in the past five years, because it can overcome the negative effect of wireless multipath fading. However, the conventional DCSK-CC system suffers

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.
