Partially coherent nonparaxial beams

Optics Letters, 2004
The concept of a partially coherent nonparaxial beam is proposed. A closed-form expression for the propagation of nonparaxial Gaussian Schell model (GSM) beams in free space is derived and applied to study the propagation properties of nonparaxial GSM beams.

Partially coherent conical beams

Optics Letters, 2000
We introduce a new class of partially coherent beams that can propagate over large distances without changing their transverse profiles and their coherence properties. Such beams are generated by an incoherent superposition of identical fully coherent beams of arbitrary form, whose axes lie on a cone.

Coherent and partially coherent twisting beams

Optical Review, 1994
We present coherent and partially coherent beams that exhibit transverse pattern expansion and rotation upon free propagation. Coherent twisting beams may be generated by a suitable superposition of Laguerre-Gauss modes, while a model for partially coherent twisting beams is given by a continuous incoherent superposition of lowest order modes.

Partially coherent vectorial nonparaxial beams

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2004
Generalized vectorial Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integrals are developed for the cross-spectral-density matrices of spatially partially coherent beams. Using the Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beam as an example, we derive the expressions for the propagation of cross-spectral-density matrices and intensity of partially coherent vectorial nonparaxial ...

Coherence vortices in partially coherent beams

Optics Communications, 2003
It is demonstrated that the spectral degree of coherence of a partially coherent beam may possess isolated pairs of points at which its phase is singular, and that in the neighborhood of these points the phase may possess a vortex structure. Partially coherent beams consisting of Hermite-Gaussian modes are considered as an example.

Partially coherent bottle beams

Optics Communications, 2005
We theoretically investigate the three-dimensional intensity distribution of the partially coherent beams focused by a lens. It is shown that the intensity distribution in the neighborhood of the geometrical focus is not only dependent on the intensity distribution of the incident partially coherent beam, but also on its coherence.

Partially coherent beam propagation

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
We investigate the propagation of a partially coherent beam produce by a plane source. By utilizing Helmholtz equation, the intensity of the source in plane z = 0, and plane z are obtained. Then by considering new theoretical prediction on cross-spectral density function of the field in the plane z = 0, the root-means square (rms) beam radius, as a ...

Beam wander of partially coherent Airy beams

Journal of Modern Optics, 2014
The beam wander of a partially coherent Airy beam in a turbulent atmosphere was investigated. By using the extended Huygens–Fresnel integral, as analytical expression is derived for the second-order moment of a partially coherent Airy beam. Based on the theory proposed by Andrews, a general expression is obtained for the beam wander of a partially ...

Beam shaping of partially coherent light beams

Frontiers in Optics, 2003
Laser beams with a uniform profile or other kinds of profiles are desired in many applications, such as in laser fusion, laser heat treatment, and optical data proceeding etc.. Unfortunately a laser operated in TEM00 mode delivers a laser beams with a Gaussian profile. Therefore it is very important to reshape a laser beam with a profile to the desired

Partially coherent radially polarized circular Airy beam

Optics Letters, 2020
We propose and demonstrate a new, to the best of our knowledge, kind of partially coherent vector beam called the partially coherent radially polarized circular Airy beam (PCRPCAB). The PCRPCAB inherits the autofocusing ability of the radially polarized circular Airy beam (RPCAB) and can create an optical potential well at the center of the beam, whose
