Partially coherent multiple-beam interference
Applied Physics, 1974The general formula for multiple-beam interference due to regular slit arrays illuminated with partially coherent quasi-monochromatic light is derived. The correlation functions chosen for partially coherent light assume Gaussian, sinc and besinc forms of correlation. The intensity distribution in the interference patterns is presented and discussed as

Partially coherent vortex beams
Complex Light and Optical Forces XII, 2018Beams with structured phase and beams with partial spatial coherence have both been considered for a variety of applications for many years, and it would seem natural to combine their advantageous properties. However, there is a conceptual difficulty in doing so because partially coherent beams lack a definite phase, which would seem to rule out a ...

Propagation of partially polarized, partially coherent beams
Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics, 2008The propagation of partially polarized and partially coherent beams in free space is investigated. Using the partially polarized Gaussian Schell model beam as an example, closed-form propagation expressions are derived for the intensity distribution and the degree of polarization of the beam.

Overview: In this chapter we study the effects of a spatially partially coherent beam. Several investigations of the properties of such beams have led to the conclusion that the use of a diffuser at the exit aperture of a coherent laser can produce reduced scintillations at the receiver under the proper conditions.

Matrix treatment for partially polarized, partially coherent beams
Optics Letters, 1998A matrix method is outlined for dealing with quasi-monochromatic, partially polarized light when spatial coherence is not necessarily complete and propagation occurs along beams. Both spatial coherence and polarization properties are described by a single 2x2 matrix whose elements have the structure of mutual intensity functions.

Generalized partially coherent beams with nonseparable phases
Optics Letters, 2019A new, to the best of our knowledge, family of partially coherent beams incorporating a set of nonseparable phases is introduced. Due to the nonnegative definiteness of the cross-spectral density function, these phases cannot survive in the limit of full coherence, which distinguishes them from conventional phase terms. An example of a nonuniform model

Synthesis of structured partially spatially coherent beams
Optics Letters, 2011We report on the generation and rapid characterization of structured beams of arbitrary spatial coherence. An experimental setup is introduced capable of generating partially coherent fields by incoherently superposing fully coherent fields. The characterization is performed using the spectral information in the interferogram produced when using a two ...

Radiation efficiency of partially coherent electromagnetic beams
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2001We present a general definition of the radiation efficiency of stationary electromagnetic fields and prove that it is bounded between zero and unity for beams of any state of coherence and polarization. The radiation efficiency may be interpreted as a measure of how directed the radiated fields are, and therefore it can be used to assess the allowed ...

Generation of Partially Coherent Beams
2017Abstract Partially coherent beams with a prescribed phase, state of polarization, and degree of coherence display many extraordinary propagation properties and are preferred in many applications, such as particle trapping, free-space optical communications, remote sensing, optical imaging, material thermal processing, image transformation, and ...

Partially coherent dual and quad airy beams
Optics Letters, 2019We investigate the partially coherent dual and quad Airy beams, which are the partially coherent version of multiple Airy beams, in the framework of cross-spectral density functions. They are constructed by the superposition of two and four partially coherent Airy beams without reduced acceleration properties (rate and range).
