Simulation of partially premixed turbulent flames

open access: yes, 2017
This work numerically investigates the turbulent partially premixed flames, which are ubiquitous in combustion powered devices. This combustion mode involves many physical complexities such as flame propagation in unevenly premixed mixture of fuel and oxidiser, turbulence/flame interaction in presence of mixture fraction gradients, triple flame ...

Biocompatibility With Osteogenic Potential of Premixed Bioceramic Cements for Use in Apical Surgery

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the biocompatibility and osteogenic potential of premixed bioceramic cements (PBCs)—CeraPutty, EndoCEM MTA Premixed, Well‐Root PT, and One‐Fil PT Injectable—as alternatives to mineral trioxide aggregate for retrograde filling in endodontic microsurgery.

Study on combustion performances of partially premixed flame in a micro-combustor with cavity

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Combustion characteristics of a partially premixed flame in a micro-combustor with a wall cavity were studied numerically under various conditions (primary air coefficient, α = 0.35, 0.5, and 0.65).

Facilitators, Barriers and Reported Implementation Outcomes of Wide‐Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet in Hand Surgery Practice: A Systematic Scoping Review

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wide‐Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) is increasingly being used by hand surgeons. This systematic scoping review aims to identify and collate existing evidence on the reported implementation outcomes, barriers, facilitators and implementation strategies relevant to WALANT in hand surgery practice. Methods A systematic

A Phase 2 Trial of Frexalimab, a CD40L Antagonist, in Adolescents and Adults With Recent‐Onset Type 1 Diabetes (FABULINUS): Rationale and Study Design

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disease, characterised by progressive destruction of the insulin‐producing pancreatic β‐cells. Preserving remaining β‐cells at the time of diagnosis may improve long‐term outcomes. Frexalimab is a humanised monoclonal antibody specific for CD40L undergoing evaluation for treatment of ...

Impact of Time of Injection on the Efficacy and Safety of iGlarLixi Versus IDegAsp in Chinese People With Type 2 Diabetes: Exploratory Analysis of the Soli‐D Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To compare the efficacy and safety of the fixed‐ratio combination of insulin glargine 100 U/mL plus lixisenatide (iGlarLixi) with premixed insulin degludec plus insulin aspart (IDegAsp) according to the injection time of IDegAsp. Materials and Methods The 24‐week, multicentre, randomised, open‐label Soli‐D study enrolled Chinese adults ...

Real‐World Evidence of the Effectiveness and Safety of Biosynthetic Semaglutide in Type 2 Diabetes: A Multicentre Study From Pakistan

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the real‐world effectiveness, safety and patient‐reported outcomes of biosynthetic semaglutide in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) receiving routine outpatient care in a cost‐constrained setting. Methods This 30‐week, prospective, multicentre, non‐interventional study enrolled adults with T2DM initiating ...

A Fly in the Ointment? Non‐Target Fly Pest Benefits From Reduction in Ivermectin During Targeted Selective Treatment

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Targeted Selective Treatment (TST) can reduce the rate of resistance development in livestock gastrointestinal nematodes but can also reduce the effects of anthelmintics on non‐target organisms. Most studies of non‐target anthelmintic effects focus on beneficial species.

Anti‐Integrin αvβ6 Autoantibodies as Diagnostic and Monitoring Biomarkers for Pediatric‐Onset Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Levels of anti‐integrin αvβ6 antibodies were significantly higher in pediatric‐onset primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) than in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and may reflect disease activity. These antibodies may serve as a novel biomarker for distinguishing PSC from AIH and for monitoring disease progression.

Innate Immune Activation Is a Strong Suppressor of CCL22 and Impedes Regulatory T Cell–Dendritic Cell Interaction

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
During homeostasis, CCL22 is secreted by dendritic cells (DC), which mediate contacts between regulatory T cells (Treg) and DC to maintain immune balance. Activation of innate immunity via microbes or pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonists induces the secretion of several soluble factors (e.g., type I and II interferons, IL‐10), which mediate ...
