Miniaturized Droplet‐Based Adaptation of the Ames Test for High‐Throughput Mutagenicity Assessment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 46, Issue 8, Page 2791-2802, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This work presents the first demonstration of a tube‐based droplet microfluidic implementation of the Ames test, bridging single‐droplet resolution with regulatory genotoxicity testing. The Ames test is a cornerstone assay for detecting mutagenicity, but conventional plate‐ and well‐based formats suffer from high reagent consumption, low ...

Contrasting Effects of HT‐2 Toxin Exposure and ZIP6 Knockdown on Chondrocyte Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
HT‐2 toxin triggers chondrocyte damage and matrix metabolism disorders in KBD via suppressing ZIP6. ZIP6 knockdown alleviates these dysfunctions through FoxO, cAMP and TNF pathways, clarifying the molecular mechanism of cartilage injury. ABSTRACT Kashin‐Beck disease (KBD) is a chronic, endemic osteoarticular disorder associated with T‐2 toxin exposure,

UV‐Assisted Direct Ink Writing of Fully Bio‐Derived Photopolymer Composites With High Cellulose Loadings

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 8, August 2026.
Fully bio‐based, cellulose‐reinforced inks are developed to 3D print structures via UV‐assisted extrusion. The inks flow easily during printing and solidify rapidly under light, enabling stable shapes and improved performance. Post‐print treatment allows tuning of strength and stiffness, demonstrating a sustainable route toward functional, plant‐based ...

Loss of Rab8a‐Dependent Tethering of Lipid Droplets to Mitochondria Contributes to Hypoxia–Reoxygenation Injury

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
Rab8a‐dependent tethering of lipid droplets to mitochondria sustains fatty acid oxidation and cardiomyocyte metabolic flexibility under normoxia. During hypoxia/reoxygenation, Rab8a loss and PLIN5‐associated lipophagy uncouple lipid breakdown from mitochondrial utilization, driving lipotoxicity and cell death.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Molecular Pathogenesis and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
This graphical summary illustrates the multiorgan therapeutic landscape for Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D), integrating molecular pathogenesis with modern treatment strategies. It depicts how current interventions, including SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP‐1 receptor agonists, and insulin secretagogues, target key organs—kidney, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract,
