Resolution studies with the DATURA beam telescope
Detailed studies of the resolution of a EUDET-type beam telescope are carried out using the DATURA beam telescope as an example. The EUDET-type beam telescopes make use of CMOS MIMOSA 26 pixel detectors for particle tracking allowing for precise ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

In the paper we present the method of calculating the particle size distribution of the initial granules overgranulated by the “fattening” technology. We have developed a number of different ways for solving the problem for the continuous and periodic ...

Effects of particle size distribution in thick film conductors [PDF]
Studies of particle size distribution in thick film conductors are discussed. The distribution of particle sizes does have an effect on fired film density but the effect is not always positive.

Numerical simulations of mixing conditions and aerosol dynamics in the CERN CLOUD chamber [PDF]
To study the effect of galactic cosmic rays on aerosols and clouds, the Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets (CLOUD) project was established. Experiments are carried out at a 26.1 m3 tank at CERN (Switzerland).

Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Particle Size Distributions from Fraunhofer Diffraction
It is well known1 that the mean intensity per steradian diffracted by a random distribution of N opaque particles is given, in the Fraunhofer region, by $$I(s)=I_o\sum_{i=1}^{N}\frac{a_{i}^{2}J_{1}^{2}(ka_is)}{s^2}$$ (1) where a i is the radius of the particle i, k is the wave-vector of the radiation and s is the scattering angle.

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...
