Experimental investigations on ultrasound mediated particle breakage

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2008
This paper investigates the effect of high-intensity ultrasound on the breakage characteristics of particles suspended in water. A continuous sonicated flow experimental apparatus is used involving a 24 kHz horn type transducer and continuous in-line particle chord length measurement.

Numerical validation of a population balance model describing cement paste rheology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Rheology control is essential during the period in which cement and concrete pastes are encountered in the fresh state, due to the fact that it directly affects workability, initial placement and the structural performance of the hardened material ...

Compaction and Breakage Characteristics of Crushed Stone Used as the Backfill Material of Urban Pavement Subsidence

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The subsidence of urban pavement is becoming frequent accidents, and backfill is the primary means of remedy. Crushed stone is a commonly used aggregate for backfill material in engineering, and its compaction behavior under load needs to be well ...

Numerical simulation of mechanical compaction and pore evolution of sandstone considering particle breakage

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Mechanical compaction is an important diagenetic process in sandstone reservoirs. Particle breakage, which commonly occurs during mechanical compaction, plays a significant role in controlling the physical properties of the reservoir.

The influence of particle breakage on stress-dilatancy relationship for granular soils [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The influence of particle breakage on soil behaviour is important from theoretical and practical perspectives. Particle breakage changes the internal energy in two ways.

A state-dependent double yield surface elastoplastic constitutive model considering particle breakage

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
Numerous experimental studies have shown that particle breakage in granular geomaterials under loading alters the grain size distribution (GSD) and consequently affects their mechanical properties.

Comparative Study on Particle Size Effect of Crushable Granular Soils through DEM Simulations

open access: yesLithosphere, 2022
The particle size plays an important role in the mechanical behavior of granular geomaterials. With respect to the crushable granular soils, the particle breakage under different pressures leads to the variation of the particle size distribution of soils.

The specific selection function effect on clinker grinding efficiency in a dry batch ball mill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Dry grinding experiments on cement clinker were carried out using a laboratory batch ball mill equipped with a torque measurement. The influence of the ball size distribution on the specific selection function can be approached by laboratory runs using ...
