Fluid-particle interactions and fluctuation-dissipation relations III -Correlated fluctuations, regularity and added mass

open access: yes
The Kubo fluctuation-dissipation theory is grounded on the Langevin conditionexpressing the  local independence between  the thermal force and the particle velocity history. We show that the introduction ofcorrelated processes in the elementary stochastic forcingsacting on the fluctuationalpatterns defined in Giona et al.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Multiplicity and transverse momentum dependence of charge-balance functions in pPb and PbPb collisions at LHC energies

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Measurements of the charge-dependent two-particle angular correlation function in proton-lead (pPb) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 8.16 TeV and lead-lead (PbPb) collisions at s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Space-time evolution of particle emission in p–Pb collisions at $$\sqrt{{s}_{\text{NN}}}=5.02$$ TeV with 3D kaon femtoscopy

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The measurement of three-dimensional femtoscopic correlations between identical charged kaons (K ± K ± ) produced in p–Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $$\sqrt{{s}_{\text{NN}}}=5.02$$ TeV with ALICE at the LHC is presented for the ...

Mesoscopic Fluctuations in Quantum Dots, Nanoparticles and Nuclei

open access: yes, 2005
We discuss mesoscopic effects in quantum dots, nanoparticles and nuclei. In quantum dots, we focus on the statistical regime of dots whose single-electron dynamics are chaotic.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.
