Anisotropic distributions in a multi-phase transport model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
With A Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT) model we investigate the relation between the magnitude, fluctuations and correlations of the initial state spatial anisotropy $\varepsilon_{n}$ and the final state anisotropic flow coefficients $v_{n}$ in Au+Au ...

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

First measurement of D*+ vector meson spin alignment in Pb–Pb collisions at $$\sqrt{{s}_{\text{NN}}}={5}.0{2}$$ TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The first measurement of prompt D*+-meson spin alignment in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions with respect to the direction orthogonal to the reaction plane is presented. The spin alignment is quantified by measuring the element ρ 00 of the diagonal

Electroluminescence TPCs at the thermal diffusion limit

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
The NEXT experiment aims at searching for the hypothetical neutrinoless double-beta decay from the 136Xe isotope using a high-purity xenon TPC. Efficient discrimination of the events through pattern recognition of the topology of primary ionisation ...

Order-disorder transition in repulsive self-propelled particle systems

open access: yes, 2016
We study the collective dynamics of repulsive self-propelled particles. The particles are governed by coupled equations of motion that include polar self-propulsion, damping of velocity and of polarity, repulsive particle-particle interaction, and ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Studying strangeness and baryon production mechanisms through angular correlations between charged Ξ baryons and identified hadrons in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The angular correlations between charged Ξ baryons and associated identified hadrons (pions, kaons, protons, Λ baryons, and Ξ baryons) are measured in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ALICE detector to give insight into the particle ...

Search for QCD Phase Transitions and the Critical Point utilizing Particle Ratio Fluctuations and Transverse Momentum Correlations from the STAR Experiment

open access: yes, 2012
Dynamical fluctuations of the globally conserved quantities in heavy ion collision such as baryon number, strangeness, charge, and isospin are suggested to carry information about the deconfinement and chiral phase transitions.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
