Correlations, Fluctuations, and Flow Measurements from the STAR Experiment

open access: yes, 2002
New measurements of short-range and long-range two-particle correlations, azimuthal anisotropy, and event-by-event fluctuations from the STAR experiment for sqrt{s_{NN}}= 130 and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions are summarized. Striking evidence is presented for

Dissipation and fragmentation of low-Q^2 scattered partons in Au-Au collisions at RHIC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Two-particle correlations and event-wise fluctuations in transverse momentum p_t are reported for Au-Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 62 and 200 GeV on pseudorapidity (eta) and azimuth (phi).

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

J/ψ-hadron correlations at midrapidity in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We report on the measurement of inclusive, non-prompt, and prompt J/ψ-hadron correlations by the ALICE Collaboration at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The correlations are studied at midrapidity (|y|

Observation of grand-canonical number statistics in a photon Bose-Einstein condensate

open access: yes, 2014
We report measurements of particle number correlations and fluctuations of a photon Bose-Einstein condensate in a dye microcavity using a Hanbury Brown-Twiss experiment.

Correlation between Particle Motion and Voronoi-Cell-Shape Fluctuations during the Compaction of Granular Matter [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2008
We track particle motions in a granular material subjected to compaction using a laser scattering-based imaging method where compaction is achieved through thermal cycling. Particle displacements in this jammed fluid correlate strongly with rearrangements of the Voronoi cells defining the local environment about the particles, similar to previous ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Study of $$\langle {p}_{\text{T}}\rangle $$ and its higher moments, and extraction of the speed of sound in Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions produce a state of hot and dense strongly interacting QCD matter called quark-gluon plasma (QGP). On an event-by-event basis, the volume of the QGP in ultracentral collisions is mostly constant, while its total ...

Goldstone-type fluctuations and their implications for the amorphous solid state

open access: yes, 2004
In sufficiently high spatial dimensions, the formation of the amorphous (i.e. random) solid state of matter, e.g., upon sufficent crosslinking of a macromolecular fluid, involves particle localization and, concommitantly, the spontaneous breakdown of the
