Improvement of acid resistance of Zn-doped dentin by newly generated chemical bonds
Dental caries, the world’s most prevalent infectious disease, is caused by the diffusion of hydroxyl ions into tooth structures. To prevent dental caries, the application of fluoride (F) and zinc (Zn) ions to teeth surfaces are potential effective ...

Localization of Aluminum in Epidermal Cells of Mature Tea Leaves
We have determined the distribution of aluminum in the epidermal cells of mature tea leaves using micro-beam particle-induced X-ray emission. The observed pattern of aluminum distribution in the epidermal cells suggests that aluminum exists in cell walls.

Tuneable blue to orange phosphor from Sm3+ doped ZnAl2O4 nanomaterials
Undoped and Sm3+ doped ZnAl2O4 nanopowders were synthesized using the co-precipitation method and annealed at 750 ℃ for 3.5 h. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of varying the Sm3+ concentration on the ZnAl2O4 structure, morphology, and

STRAS: a new high-time-resolution aerosol sampler for particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis [PDF]
The joint use of hourly resolution sampling and analyses with accelerated ion beams such as with the particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) technique has allowed the measurement of hourly temporal patterns of particulate matter (PM) composition at many ...

Particle-in-cell simulation of x-ray wakefield acceleration and betatron radiation in nanotubes
Though wakefield acceleration in crystal channels has been previously proposed, x-ray wakefield acceleration has only recently become a realistic possibility since the invention of the single-cycled optical laser compression technique. We investigate the
