Non-thermal electron acceleration in turbulent, post-flare coronal loops

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. The generation of energetic, non-thermal electrons during solar flares plays a critical role in energy transportation from the corona to the chromosphere, producing regions of observed intense X-ray emission.

Photoluminescence and EPR Studies of ZnS Nanoparticles Co-Doped With Mn and Te [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2011
ZnS nanoparticles Co-doped with Mn and Te (x = 0.05 and 0.10) have been synthesized for the first time by chemical co-precipitation method, thiophenol is used to passivate the surface of the particles.

Bi1−xEuxFeO3 Powders: Synthesis, Characterization, Magnetic and Photoluminescence Properties

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Europium substituted bismuth ferrite powders were synthesized by the sol-gel technique. The precursor xerogel was characterized by thermal analysis. Bi1−xEuxFeO3 (x = 0−0.20) powders obtained after thermal treatment of the xerogel at 600 ...

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Chemical State Detection and Charge Transfer in Complex Oxide Heterostructures via In Situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy resolves oxidation states with high fidelity during the pulsed laser deposition of multivalent perovskite manganate and vanadate heterostructures. The chemical‐state signature is carried by the valence‐electron population of the transition‐metal cation, read out through the relative intensities of Auger fine ...

Particle induced x-ray emission.

open access: yes, 1991
The accelerator based ion beam technique of Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) is discussed in some detail. This report pulls together all major reviews and references over the last ten years and reports on PIXE in vacuum and using external beams.

Elevated iron levels in tears of patients diagnosed with WDR45 X-linked optic atrophy

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases
Background Pathogenic variants in WDR45 are associated with iron deposits in the basal ganglia. We aimed to determine iron levels in tears of patients with WDR45 X-linked optic atrophy compared to healthy controls.

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...
