Influence of Particle Elongation and Aspect Ratio on the Discharge Behavior of a Flat-Bottom Silo
Silos are widely used structures designed with hoppers or as flat bottoms to store different types of particulate materials (pellets, grains, powders, etc.). Although they have been used in industry for a long time, further research is needed.

The distribution of settling velocity of non-spherical mineral particles [PDF]
The settling velocity is an independent variable of the hydraulic separation performed for instance by means of jigs. Therefore, the settling velocity characterizes the material forwarded to the separation process.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Shear strength of angular granular materials with size and shape polydispersity
Shear strength characterization of coarse granular materials often requires modifying the original material in order to fit samples in standard testing devices.

Although too much iron in the brain promotes neurodegeneration, iron ion chelators have had mixed effects in clinical trials. This review explains why; some chelators do not render the iron redox‐inactive (e.g., L1) whereas others do (e.g., desferrioxamine).

THE minerals found in clays and soil colloids are usually considered to be plate-shaped and to have layer lattices built up from sheets of silicon – oxygen tetrahedra. This may be true in the majority of cases, but rod- or needle-shaped particles can also occur and should not be overlooked. Their presence may be due to one of the following two reasons.

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Shape-directed rotation of homogeneous micromotors via catalytic self-electrophoresis
The pursuit of chemically-powered colloidal machines requires individual components that perform different motions within a common environment. Such motions can be tailored by controlling the shape and/or composition of catalytic microparticles; however,
