On latent track formation in organic nuclear charged particle track detectors

Radiation Effects, 1970
In recent years, in a number of laboratories throughout the world, a considerable amount of effort has gone into the development and the understanding of organic nuclear charged particle track detectors. Even in their developmental stage these detectors have found numerous applications in several scientific fields.

A large-volume detector capable of charged-particle tracking

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2006
We discuss a new scheme to measure charged particle tracks in a large-volume detector. Such detectors are needed for the study of neutrino-induced reactions. The proposed detector consists of arrays of fluorescent fibers submersed in a tank of liquid scintillator.

Research into accelerator driven systems using particle track detectors

Radiation Measurements, 2003
Abstract In the interaction of relativistic protons with heavy and extended targets such as lead, large number of neutrons is produced in the course of the so-called spallation process. These neutrons can be used to drive a sub-critical nuclear assembly for energy generation and/or for the transmutation of the long-lived nuclear waste isotopes to ...

Micro-fluidic silicon cooling devices for particle tracking detectors

Fourteenth Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (ITherm), 2014
In the last years the Detector Technology group (PH-DT) [1] of the CERN Physics Department in Geneva, Switzerland, has started the study of novel micro-fluidic cooling systems obtained through standard micro-fabrication processes that outperform traditional cooling approaches for the thermal management of silicon particle detectors.

Fluorescent Nuclear Track Detectors for Alpha Particle Measurement

2018
Alpha radionuclide therapy has great potential for effective treatment of metastatic with reduced normal tissue complications. (Pre-clinical) research of alpha radiation of therapy does however suffer from a lack of proper tools for spectroscopy, (micro-) dosimetry and radiobiology.
