Modeling particulate organic matter diagenesis with SED2K

2020
Future Work Sedimented POM consists of a labile fraction that participates in biogeochemical reactions, collectively termed diagenesis, and a refractory fraction that is ultimately buried. The diagenetic reactions include oxidation of carbon mediated by oxygen, nitrate, iron, manganese and sulfate and a fermentation, methanogenesis.

Particulate Organic Matter Composition and Fluxes in the Sea

2002
For at least 40 years, the rain of particulate organic matter falling through the ocean has been known to exist and to constitute a source of food for organisms on the sea floor (Honjo 1990, 1996). Sinking of particulate material from the surface to deeper waters and the sea floor is one of the major pathways for the transport of carbon and other ...
