A Review of the Fire and Explosion Hazards of Particulates

open access: yes, 2014
Particulate fires and explosions cause substantial loss of life and property. With the goal of understanding, preventing, or at least mitigating particulate fire and explosion hazards, we review basics.

An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.

In situ formation of ZrB2 particulates and their influence on microstructure and tensile behavior of AA7075 aluminum matrix composites

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2017
In situ synthesis of aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) has become a popular method due to several advantages over conventional stir casting method. In the present study, AA7075/ZrB2 AMCs reinforced with various content of ZrB2 particulates (0, 3, 6, 9 ...

Development of Itaconate Polymers Microparticles for Intracellular Regulation of Pro‐Inflammatory Macrophage Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops itaconate‐based polymer microparticles (IA‐MPs) for macrophage‐targeted intracellular delivery, overcoming the limitations of traditional itaconate administration. IA‐MPs achieve controlled release through phagocytosis, reducing pro‐inflammatory cytokine expression and reprogramming macrophage metabolism toward glycolysis.

Systematic study on fabrication of hollow poly(vinyl cinnamate) particles by particulate interfacial photocrosslinking

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 3, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
Hollow polymer particles are widely used in various industries as coatings and cosmetics. Herein, we successfully fabricated hollow polymer particles from poly(vinyl cinnamate) (PVC) particles through interfacial photocrosslinking. Furthermore, we systematically studied the effects of solid contents of parent particles, photoirradiation time ...

The influence of physical and chemical linkage on the properties of nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It has been shown by several groups that the mechanical and electrical behavior of composites changes quite substantially, and often beneficially, when the filler particle size is less than 100 nm in diameter.

Rapid Drying Principle for High‐speed, Pinhole‐Less, Uniform Wet Deposition Protocols of Water‐Dispersed 2D Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐speed and inexpensive deposition techniques are crucial for the practical application of 2D materials. Rapid drying principle deriving hot dipping and air knife sweeping deposition protocols achieves film uniformity, scalability, and tunable thickness simultaneously by suppressing time for secondary flows.

Light scattering at small angles by atmospheric irregular particles: modelling and laboratory measurements [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2014
We have investigated the behaviour of light scattering by particulates of various sizes (0.1 μm to 100 μm) at a small scattering angle (below 20°). It has been previously shown that, for a small angle, the scattered intensities are weakly dependent upon ...
