Nutrients and Acid in the Rain and Dry Fallout at Fayetteville, Arkansas (1980-1982) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Wet and dry fallout at Fayetteville, Arkansas have been collected separately and analyzed since April, 1980. The precipitation-weighted-average pH for two yearly periods of rainfall were 4.72 (6/80-5/81) and 4.75 (6/81-5/82).

Emission Standards for Particulates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Air Pollution Control Association, 1974
Promulgation of standards of performance under Section 111 and national emission standards for hazardous pollutants under Section 112 of the Clean Air Act is the responsibility of the Emission Standards and Engineering Division of EPA. The problems encountered and the bases used are examined.

Identification of the mechanisms that drive the toxicity of TiO2 particulates: the contribution of physicochemical characteristics

open access: yesParticle and Fibre Toxicology, 2009
This review focuses on outlining the toxicity of titanium dioxide (TiO2) particulates in vitro and in vivo, in order to understand their ability to detrimentally impact on human health. Evaluating the hazards associated with TiO2 particles is vital as it

Mechanically Tunable Bone Scaffolds: In Vivo Hardening of 3D‐Printed Calcium Phosphate/Polycaprolactone Inks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bone scaffold with osteogenic properties and capable of hardening in vivo is developed. The scaffold is implanted in a ductile state, and a phase transformation of the ceramic induces the stiffening and strengthening of the scaffold in vivo. Abstract Calcium phosphate 3D printing has revolutionized customized bone grafting.

Dendritic cell progenitors phagocytose particulates, including bacillus Calmette-Guerin organisms, and sensitize mice to mycobacterial antigens in vivo

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1993
Dendritic cells, while effective in sensitizing T cells to several different antigens, show little or no phagocytic activity. To the extent that endocytosis is required for antigen processing and presentation, it is not evident how dendritic cells would ...

Electrochemically Driven Tandem In‐Plane Reduction and FeCl3‐ Intercalation of Highly Crystalline Graphene Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a green processing route for high‐performance reduced graphene oxide (rGO) transparent conductive films (TCFs) using highly crystalline Brodie's GO. In‐plane electrochemical reduction forms rGO on insulating substrates without toxic reductants or heat. Subsequent FeCl₃ intercalation enhances conductivity, overcoming the transparency–

Studies of stratospheric particulates [PDF]

open access: yes
A sophisticated computer model of polar stratospheric clouds was developed and used to study the properties of ice clouds. The model has recently been extended to investigate nitric acid clouds and ice clouds as well as their interactions with ...
