A Conjecture of Han on 3-Cores and Modular Forms

open access: yesMathematics, 2014
In his study of Nekrasov–Okounkov type formulas on “partition theoretic” expressions for families of infinite products, Han discovered seemingly unrelated q-series that are supported on precisely the same terms as these infinite products.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Of Hubs and Hinterlands: Cyprus as an Insular Space of Overlapping Diasporas [PDF]

open access: yesIsland Studies Journal, 2012
This paper uses the metaphor of diasporic hubs and hinterlands to document and analyse the various diasporic formations that overlap and encounter each other on the divided island of Cyprus.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Partition Expanders

open access: yesTheory of Computing Systems, 2016
We introduce a new concept, which we call partition expanders. The basic idea is to study quantitative properties of graphs in a slightly different way than it is in the standard definition of expanders. While in the definition of expanders it is required that the number of edges between any pair of sufficiently large sets is close to the expected ...

POWER PARTITIONS AND SEMI--FIBONACCI PARTITIONS

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2020
Andrews [‘Binary and semi-Fibonacci partitions’, J. Ramanujan Soc. Math. Math. Sci.7(1) (2019), 1–6] recently proved a new identity between the cardinalities of the set of semi-Fibonacci partitions and the set of partitions into powers of 2 with all parts appearing an odd number of times.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.
