Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Robust PBFD Nonlinear Filtering Scheme for Active Noise Cancellation With Remote Acoustic Sensing

open access: yesIEEE Access
Nonlinear active noise cancellation/control (NANC) systems have attracted attention for attenuating noises using remote acoustic sensing techniques. Controlling noises at the remote virtual loaction involve higher computational requirements.

Chromatic polynomials of partition systems

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1997
The authors develop a generalization of chromatic polynomials to certain set systems called partition systems (the independent subsets of a graph form a partition system where their polynomial specializes to the classical chromatic polynomial). This also generalizes the umbral chromatic polynomial in the context of the Roman-Rota umbral calculus.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Analytical Evaluation of the 2D-DCT using paralleling processing

open access: yesCLEI Electronic Journal, 1998
One of the current research areas in the field of computer science is distributed computing systems. In distributed systems, software is partitioned into modules and executed using a number of processors concurrently.

Response-Time Analysis of Multipath Flows in Hierarchically-Scheduled Time-Partitioned Distributed Real-Time Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Modern industrial cyberphisical systems exhibit increasingly complex execution patterns like multipath end-to-end flows, that force the real-time community to extend the schedulability analysis methods to include these patterns.

Privacy-Preserving Classification of Vertically Partitioned Data via Random Kernels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a novel privacy-preserving support vector machine (SVM) classifier for a data matrix A whose input feature columns are divided into groups belonging to different entities.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Numerical study of phase change material partitioned cavities coupled with fins for thermal management of photovoltaic cells

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
To enhance the temperature control capability of photovoltaic-phase change material systems, a strategy involving the combination of fins and partitioned cavities is employed to enhance the heat transfer process.
