Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Beyond pairwise clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We consider the problem of clustering in domains where the affinity relations are not dyadic (pairwise), but rather triadic, tetradic or higher. The problem is an instance of the hypergraph partitioning problem.

Sorting and Permuting without Bank Conflicts on GPUs

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we look at the complexity of designing algorithms without any bank conflicts in the shared memory of Graphical Processing Units (GPUs).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamics of Growth and Development of Banana (Musa AAA Simmonds cvs. Gran Enano and Valery) Dinámica del Crecimiento y Desarrollo del Banano (Musa AAA Simmonds cvs. Gran Enano y Valery)

open access: yesRevista Facultad Nacional de Agronomía Medellín, 2011
This research was conducted in the banana zone on Urabá (Colombia), whith cvs. Gran Enano and Valery. Since planting, each three to four leaves sprouted, three plants per variety were sampled, each corresponding to a repetition. These were separated into

Number partitioning as random energy model

open access: yes, 2004
Number partitioning is a classical problem from combinatorial optimisation. In physical terms it corresponds to a long range anti-ferromagnetic Ising spin glass. It has been rigorously proven that the low lying energies of number partitioning behave like

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Application of ATPSs Based on Thermosensitive Copolymer in Partitioning and Determination of Ciprofloxacin in a Milk Sample [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
Phase behavior of copolymer-salt aqueous two-phase systems contaning PEG-PPG copolymer (L35 Pluronic) (Mw=1900) and five salts (potassium diphosphate, magnesium sulfate, potassium citrate, disodium tartrate and monosodium phosphate) have been studied ...

Partition Expanders

open access: yesTheory of Computing Systems, 2016
We introduce a new concept, which we call partition expanders. The basic idea is to study quantitative properties of graphs in a slightly different way than it is in the standard definition of expanders. While in the definition of expanders it is required that the number of edges between any pair of sufficiently large sets is close to the expected ...

POWER PARTITIONS AND SEMI--FIBONACCI PARTITIONS

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2020
Andrews [‘Binary and semi-Fibonacci partitions’, J. Ramanujan Soc. Math. Math. Sci.7(1) (2019), 1–6] recently proved a new identity between the cardinalities of the set of semi-Fibonacci partitions and the set of partitions into powers of 2 with all parts appearing an odd number of times.
