A Novel Two-Dimensional Dynamic Pseudo-Random Coupled Map Lattices System Based on Partitioned Elementary Cellular Automata

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper proposes a novel spatiotemporal chaotic system with two-dimensional dynamic pseudo-random coupled map lattices (2D-DPRCML) based on partitioned elementary cellular automata (PECA). In the system iteration, coupling lattices are chosen based on the chaotic PECA, and the iterative results of PECA are also employed as the perturbation for the ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Parallel implementation of the TRANSIMS micro-simulation

open access: yes, 2000
This paper describes the parallel implementation of the TRANSIMS traffic micro-simulation. The parallelization method is domain decomposition, which means that each CPU of the parallel computer is responsible for a different geographical area of the ...

Tailoring load balancing of cellular automata parallel execution to the case of a two-dimensional partitioned domain

open access: yesThe Journal of Supercomputing, 2023
AbstractIn this paper, techniques for dynamic load balancing of the cellular automata parallel execution are presented for the case of domain space partitioned along two dimensions. Starting from general closed-form expressions that allow to compute the optimal workload assignment in a dynamic fashion when partitioning takes place along only one ...

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

A Quantum Game of Life [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This research describes a three dimensional quantum cellular automaton (QCA) which can simulate all other 3D QCA. This intrinsically universal QCA belongs to the simplest subclass of QCA: Partitioned QCA (PQCA).

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Generalized Partitioned Quantum Cellular Automata and Quantization of Classical CA

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper, in order to investigate natural transformations from discrete CA to QCA, we introduce a new formulation of finite cyclic QCA and generalized notion of partitioned QCA. According to the formulations, we demonstrate the condition of local transition functions, which induce a global transition of well-formed QCA.
