RNA interference of Aspergillus flavus in response to Aspergillus flavus partitivirus 1 infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
RNA interference (RNAi) is one of the important defense responses against viral infection, but its mechanism and impact remain unclear in mycovirus infections.

Novel viruses of the family Partitiviridae discovered in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2023
It has been 49 years since the last discovery of a new virus family in the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A large-scale screen to determine the diversity of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) viruses in S. cerevisiae has identified multiple novel viruses

Novel Partitivirus Enhances Virulence of and Causes Aberrant Gene Expression in Talaromyces marneffei

open access: yesmBio, 2018
Talaromyces marneffei is the most important thermal dimorphic fungus causing systemic mycosis in Southeast Asia. We report the discovery of a novel partitivirus, Talaromyces marneffei partitivirus-1 (TmPV1). TmPV1 was detected in 7 (12.7%) of 55 clinical

Molecular Characterization of a Debilitation-Associated Partitivirus Infecting the Pathogenic Fungus Aspergillus flavus [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
The opportunistic human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus flavus is known to be infected with mycoviruses. In this study, we report a novel mycovirus A. flavus partitivirus 1 (AfPV1) that was originally isolated from the abnormal colonial morphology isolate ...

Complete Nucleotide Sequence of a Partitivirus from Rhizoctonia solani AG-1 IA Strain C24 [PDF]

open access: yesViruses, 2018
The complete genome of a novel double-stranded (ds) RNA mycovirus, named as Rhizoctonia solani partitivirus 5 (RsPV5), isolated from rice sheath blight fungus R. solani AG-1 IA strain C24, was sequenced and analysed. RsPV5 consists of two segments, dsRNA-

Characterization of the mycovirus Aspergillus sulphureus partitivirus 1. [PDF]

open access: yesArch Virol
Abstract Fungi are frequently infected with viruses called mycoviruses. Some mycoviruses have shown potential as biocontrol agents because they can weaken the virulence of fungal plant pathogens. Intensive research has been conducted on the diversity of viruses infecting plant pathogens and the functions of such viruses.

Novel Viroid‐Like RNAs Naturally Infect a Filamentous Fungus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 10, Issue 3, January 25, 2023., 2023
A novel class of viroid‐like RNAs, termed as mycoviroids, naturally infects a filamentous fungus Botryosphaeria dothidea responsible for fungal attenuated virulence and growth rate. These mycoviroids range in size between 157 and 450 nucleotides, replicate autonomously in the nucleus via a rolling‐circle replication mechanism following symmetric ...

The alkalophilic fungus Sodiomyces alkalinus hosts beta- and gammapartitiviruses together with a new fusarivirus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Mixed infection by three dsRNA viruses, a novel betapartitivirus, a gammapartitivirus, and a novel fusarivirus, has been identified in four isolates of the obligate alkalophilic fungus Sodiomyces alkalinus. The first, Sodiomyces alkalinus partitivirus 1 (

Gaussian process forecasts Pseudogymnoascus destructans will cover coterminous United States by 2030

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 12, Issue 11, November 2022., 2022
White‐nose syndrome has been decimating populations of several bat species since its first occurrence in the Northeastern United States in winter 2006‐2007. We developed a model of disease spread that simultaneously achieves high predictive performance, computational efficiency, and interpretability, allowing inference of the spread rate of the disease

Evidence for a novel partitivirus isolated from the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema ceratophorum [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2022
Nematodes are abundant, but little is known about their viruses. In this study, we report a novel partitivirus isolated from the entomopathogenic nematode species Steinernema ceratophorum, named "Steinernema ceratophorum partitivirus 1" (ScPV-1). The complete genome of ScPV-1 comprises two dsRNA segments, dsRNA1 (2352 bp) and dsRNA2 (2196 bp).
