First Molecular Detection of Torque Teno Canis Virus in Apparently Healthy Dogs in Southern Italy

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
•Torque teno canis virus has been detected in dogs from southern Italy. •Detection of TTCaV DNA was more frequent in dogs with an altered faecal score, mixed‐breed and belonging to kennels. ABSTRACT Background Torque teno viruses are viruses with unclear pathogenic potential, as conflicting evidence has classified this family of viruses as harmless and

A Case of Pseudogout in an Adolescent on Isotretinoin

open access: yesCase Reports in Rheumatology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Pseudogout or calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease rarely occurs in the young. Known risk factors for pseudogout include age, previous surgery, trauma, metabolic conditions, and medications. Isotretinoin, a retinoid frequently used to control acne vulgaris, is known to cause arthralgia, arthritis, and myalgia.

Australian porcine circoviruses

open access: yes, 2006
Two types of porcine circovirus (PCV) exist, referred to as PCV1 and PCV2. PCV2 has been associated with disease syndromes in pigs, including that designated postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), which has been identified in all regions of ...

Engineered PCV2 VLPs for Antigen Delivery: A Platform for Next‐Generation Veterinary Vaccines

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The capsid (Cap) protein of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) self‐assembles into virus‐like particles (VLPs) that form stable, noninfectious nanoparticles with T = 1 icosahedral symmetry. Mimicking native virion architecture, these VLPs display antigens in a highly ordered array, conferring strong immunogenicity for both humoral and cellular responses.

An investigation into the status of porcine circovirus in Australia

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis reports for the first time the detection of porcine circovirus virus (PCV) in the Australian pig herd. PCV DNA was detected in the tissues of pigs from several Australian states using a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay, the ...

Emerging Challenges and Advances in Porcine Circovirus: A Decade in Review

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Over the past decade, porcine circoviruses (PCVs) have continued to pose a significant threat to global swine health, and pivotal discoveries have significantly reshaped our understanding of their biology and control. Extensive genomic surveillance has expanded porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) genotyping from four to at least eight lineages, with PCV2d now ...

Development of methods for detection and eradication of mouse parvovirus from a laboratory mouse colony

open access: yes, 2007
The mouse parvovirus designated MPV can infect laboratory mice and affect the humoral and cellular immune response of infected mice, reducing their value for biomedical and medical research.

Applications of viral metagenomics in the veterinary field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Viral metagenomics provide a powerful technology to investigate the viral flora of healthy and sick animals. Using these methodologies, we gain a better understanding in the etiology of diseases, as well as deepen our knowledge into the viruses ...

Detection of porcine parvovirus using a taqman-based real-time pcr with primers and probe designed for the NS1 gene

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2010
A TaqMan-based real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was devised for the detection of porcine parvovirus (PPV). Two primers and a TaqMan probe for the non-structural protein NS1 gene were designed. The detection limit was 1 × 102 DNA copies/μL,
