A novel potyvirus is first described from Passiflora foetida from the Indonesian province of Papua, the Torres Strait Islands and Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. Infected plants had yellow/green mosaic symptoms, sometimes ringspots and chlorotic spots, and were not infected by other known viruses.

Phenol content related to antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Passiflora spp. extracts
European Food Research and Technology, 2005Methanolic extracts were prepared from different organs of plants from five Passiflora species obtained by zygotic embryo culture and evaluated for their capacity to quench DPPH and ABTS•+ radicals in comparison to that of Trolox, a water soluble vitamin-E analogue. Moreover their antimicrobial activity against E.

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. passiflorae, the cause of vascular wilt of passionfruit (Passiflora edulis f. edulis), also attacked inoculated banana poka (P. mollissima) seedlings. Other noncrop Passiflora spp. (P. ligularis and P. foetida) were susceptible, whereas P. e. f. flavicarpa, the cultivated passionfruit in Hawaii, and P. suberosa were resistant.
