Guaranteed passive balancing transformations for model order reduction

IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2002
The major concerns in state-of-the-art model reduction algorithms are: achieving accurate models of sufficiently small size, numerically stable and efficient generation of the models, and preservation of system properties such as passivity. Algorithms such as PRIMA generate guaranteed-passive models, for systems with special internal structure, using ...

The relation of maternal fluid balance to offspring passive immunity

Physiology & Behavior, 2013
The objectives were to measure changes in fluid balance of mares at parturition and relate those changes to the foals' acquisition of passive immunity. Twelve Thoroughbred mares and their foals were observed for suckling behavior for the first 12h post-partum.

Phase loading balancing by shunt passive compensator

2009 Transmission & Distribution Conference & Exposition: Asia and Pacific, 2009
This paper presents a proposal to deal with imbalance phase loading phenomenon in power distribution system. Discrete switched passive shunt compensators are considered as the means to help balancing phase loading. Discrete switched passive compensator offers advantages in term of installation cost and simplifies the maintenance process.

Passivity-preserving balanced truncation for electrical circuits

2008
We present a passivity-preserving balanced truncation model reduction method for differential-algebraic equations arising in circuit simulation. This method is based on balancing the solutions of projected Lur'e equations. By making use of the special structure of circuit equations, we can reduce the numerical effort for balanced truncation ...

Energy Dissipation, Detailed Balance and Passivity

1989
Another consequence of the detailed balance relation for the dynamics of many-particle systems is an inequality for the energy dissipation of external forces. Before we derive this inequality we have to look a little more closely at the response of conserved quantities (the energy being one such quantity).

Efficiency of LiFePO4 battery and charger with passive balancing

2015 IEEE 3rd Workshop on Advances in Information, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (AIEEE), 2015
This paper is intended as the first part of a two paper series that evaluate the efficiency of a battery pack with charger that has an integrated cell balancing method. For the first paper a simple passive balancing method is used while for the second an active shared transformer balancing method will be used.
