Clutter removal for Wi-Fi-based passive bistatic radar

2020 IEEE 91st Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2020-Spring), 2020
We address the problem of static clutter removal in Wi-Fi-based passive bistatic radars. Our goal is to detect slowly moving targets in highly cluttered indoor environments, using Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing signals from the 802.11n and 802.11ac Wi-Fi standards as sources of opportunity.

A signal and plot simulator for passive bistatic radar

2016 17th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2016
This paper describes a signal and plot simulator for continuous wave radar known as PBR (Passive Bistatic Radar) or PCL (Passive Coherent Location). The simulator enables simultaneous generation of different types of signals by appropriate adjustment of transmitters, receivers and systems parameters a integration time management. General assumptions of

Experimental results for OFDM WiFi-based passive bistatic radar

2010 IEEE Radar Conference, 2010
In this paper the practical feasibility of a WiFi transmissions based passive bistatic radar (PBR) is analyzed. The required data processing steps are described there including the adopted techniques for: (i) the control of the signal Ambiguity Function usually yielding a high sidelobe level and (ii) the removal of the undesired signal contributions ...

Passive bistatic radar for spectrum sharing

2018
This chapter has provided a brief introduction to the properties of PBR, and considered how PBR may be able to help address spectral congestion. The problem itself is already severe, and is likely to get worse. But there are some grounds for optimism, and PBR certainly has a part to play in providing solutions.

Strategies for target localization in passive bistatic radar

2016 17th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2016
This paper presents strategies of the target localization in passive bistatic radar in the presence of multiple receivers and non cooperative illuminators. One of the algorithms based on ellipsoid intersections is analyzed. The individual target position is calculated from the bistatic range (BR) measurements using closed form equation based on the ...

Compressive sensing based high-resolution passive bistatic radar

Signal, Image and Video Processing, 2016
Passive bistatic radar (PBR) systems using different communication signals can only offer low-resolution target detection due to their inherent low bandwidth. In this paper, compressive sensing (CS) is applied to multichannel FM and GSM PBR to achieve improved range-Doppler resolutions and avoid some limitations of classical multiband PBR processing ...

LTE Bandwidth and Modulation Scheme Effects on Passive Bistatic Radar

2018 52nd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2018
Communication waveforms act as signals of opportunity for passive radars. However, these signals of opportunity suffer from range-Doppler processing due to their high range sidelobes and pulse-diverse waveform aspects. Signals such as the long term evolution (LTE) encode information within the phase and amplitude of the waveform.

Estimation of passive bistatic radar detection probability: Experimental results

2014 11th European Radar Conference, 2014
This work is focussed on the estimation of the detection probability for Passive Bistatic Radar (PBR) systems. The aim of this work is to develop a methodology for estimating the probability of detection from real data. Two techniques have been introduced and compared in terms of Receiver Operating Curves (ROC) in a real scenario with a cooperative ...

Detection Performance of Passive Bistatic Radar Based on NCAF

2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP), 2019
Cross ambiguity processing is commonly used for target detection in passive bistatic radar systems. Analytical expression is obtained for the probability density function (PDF) of normalized cross ambiguity function (NCAF) when the data samples in the target surveillance and reference channels are contaminated by narrowband uncorrelated white Gaussian ...
