Passivity control of a passive haptic device
2004 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37566), 2005In this paper, we propose an energy-based stability control of a passive haptic device equipped with passive actuators such as an electric brake. Unstable behavior is observed even in the passive haptic system due to time delay mainly arising from the slow update rate of the virtual environment.

ADAPTIVE PASSIVE VIBRATION CONTROL
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1996Adaptive-passive vibration control achieves robust attenuation of a harmonic excitation through tuning a reactive device. In this paper, a robust tuning strategy is presented for adaptive passive control. The tuning strategy is based on minimizing the voltage amplitude from an accelerometer. This is similar to the standard regulator problem in feedback

In this chapter, structural control techniques aimed at reducing the vulnerability of existing or new structures, built in medium and high seismic risk areas, are described. The description is focused on the passive control and, in particular, on the passive supplemental energy dissipation techniques.

Distillation control using passivity
2001Publisher Summary This chapter presents the design of an asymptotically stable control system for homogeneous multicomponent distillation. The control system is designed using passivity and thermodynamic based analysis. One design solution is presented to illustrate the use of passivity and thermodynamics to better understand the distillation control

Passive control in mandibular rest position
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1969Abstract Electromyographic techniques were used to show that earlier findings of no activity in elevator muscles during slow mandibular closure are correct, except for movement from rest position to occlusion. Passive factors including tissue elasticity which may influence mandibular posture were discussed.

Foundation: Passivity, Stability and Passivity-Based Motion Control
2015This chapter provides foundations not only for bilateral teleoperation but also for all of the subsequent chapters. Passivity, stability of dynamical systems, and several passivity-based motion control schemes are introduced.
