Enhanced dissipation, hypoellipticity for passive scalar equations with fractional dissipation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We consider the passive scalar equations subject to shear flow advection and fractional dissipation. The enhanced dissipation estimates are derived. For classical passive scalar equation ($\gamma=1$), our result agrees with the sharp one obtained in \cite{Wei18}

Euthasia in Bulgaria - Religious Aspects

open access: yesПроблеми на постмодерността, 2017
The primary goal of this article is to initiate a profound discussion in Bulgaria by correctly defining the issues and by presenting the views of the 3 traditional for Bulgaria religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Activity Driven Phase Separation and Ordering Kinetics of Passive Particles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The steady state and phase ordering kinetics in a pure active Borwnian particle system are studied in recent years. In binary mixture of active and passive Brownian particles passive particles are used as probe to understand the properties of active medium. In our present study we study the mixture of passive and active Brownian particles.

THE COSMOPOLITICS OF CATS AND WILDLIFE ON CAPE TOWN'S URBAN EDGE

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Free‐ranging cats are widely tolerated in cities, and animal welfare organizations increasingly allow for ‘trap, neuter and release’ (TNR) of unowned cats. We show, using the example of a university campus adjacent to a national park in a large metropole, that this has implications for cosmopolitics over biodiversity on the urban edge.

Euthanasia in veterinary medicine [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
Euthanasia is the most fascinating and the most discussed issue in ethics. Euthanasia is a rarely applicable veterinary medical action that it should be performed by specially trained personnel on the desperated animals suffering from a cureless disease ...

Forced to Live: Controlled Forced Feeding of Political Prisoners and the Challenge to Nation‐States’ Civilising Processes

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since the nineteenth century, struggles between state power and political prisoners' right to die have aroused considerable interest. State enforcement to ‘make live’ through force‐feeding also raises important questions concerning processes that inform government approaches, often through methods considered to be brutal, and how these actions

Phylosymbiosis and Parallel Geographical Patterns in the Gut Microbiota of Desert‐Dwelling Amphibians and Reptiles

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Host species emerge as a significant contributor to interspecies variations in the gut microbiota of desert‐dwelling amphibians and reptiles, illustrating phylosymbiosis among the studied species. Geographical factors partially account for interpopulation variations in the gut microbiota of Bufotes pewzowi and Teratoscincus przewalskii, with parallel ...

Euthanasia and ethical dillemas: Human dignity against sanctity of life [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2017
The paper analyses ethical dilemmas and conflicting issues tied to euthanasia and the institutionalization of the right to a dignified death, viewed through a prism of arguments in favour of and against euthanasia, solutions of comparative law and the ...

Converse passivity theorems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Passivity is an imperative concept and a widely utilized tool in the analysis and control of interconnected systems. It naturally arises in the modelling of physical systems involving passive elements and dynamics. While many theorems on passivity are known in the theory of robust control, very few converse passivity results exist.

On Passivity, Feedback Passivity, And Feedback Passivity Over Erasure Network: A Piecewise Affine Approximation Approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we deal with the problem of passivity and feedback passification of smooth discrete-time nonlinear systems by considering their piecewise affine approximations. Sufficient conditions are derived for passivity and feedback passivity. These results are then extended to systems that operate over Gilbert-Elliott type communication channels ...
