WiPasLoc:A Novel Passive Indoor Human Localization Method Based on WiFi [PDF]
Passive indoor human localization is the basis for implementing ubiquitous wireless sensing systems. However, commercial WiFi signals are easily affected by the surrounding environment in our life, which makes it difficult for existing WiFi-based indoor ...

Localizing wild chimpanzees with passive acoustics
Abstract Localizing wildlife contributes in multiple ways to species conservation. Data on animal locations can reveal elements of social behavior, habitat use, population dynamics, and be useful in calculating population density. Acoustic localization systems (ALS) are a non‐invasive method widely used in the marine sciences but not well established

Comparison of Direct Intersection and Sonogram Methods for Acoustic Indoor Localization of Persons
We discuss two methods to detect the presence and location of a person in an acoustically small-scale room and compare the performances for a simulated person in distances between 1 and 2 m.

Auditory Subjective-Straight-Ahead Blurs during Significantly Slow Passive Body Rotation
This paper reports on the deterioration in sound-localization accuracy during listeners’ head and body movements. We investigated the sound-localization accuracy during passive body rotations at speeds in the range of 0.625–5 °/s. Participants were asked

Passive Localization of Scanning Emitters
The joint estimation problem of the scan rate and the position of a scanning emitter is investigated. The proposed approach takes advantage of the uniform rotating motion of the antenna main beam as it sweeps across a number of separate receivers. A joint estimator is developed based on a nonlinear least-squares (NLS) estimation.
