Emphysema in an 11‐month‐old boy with alpha‐1 antitrypsin deficiency
Pediatric Investigation, EarlyView.Pediatric development of emphysema in Alpha‐1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (A1ATD) has been rarely described. In this case report, we document an 11‐month boy with A1ATD phenotype PiZZ with basilar centrilobular emphysema, the earliest such documented case.

Portal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.This preclinical study evaluated a novel controlled‐expansion expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE)‐covered transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) stent in 11 swine, demonstrating 100% technical success, excellent deployability, and durable 6‐month angiographic patency without thrombosis, migration, fracture, or device‐related toxicity.

In adults at sea level, it occurs most commonly due to advanced heart failure (HF) or chronic opioid use and in ~5% of obstructive sleep apnoea patients initiating CPAP.
