Natural ventilation for passive cooling: measurement of discharge coefficients
Abstract For the design of natural ventilation systems for passive cooling in buildings, engineers and architects are interested in the prediction of ventilation rates as a function of position and size of the ventilation openings. In common use, there are both simple and detailed (i.e., multizone) ventilation models which rely basically on the same ...

Conventional passive radiative cooling films rely on costly feedstocks and energy‐intensive fabrication, with poor end‐of‐life compatibility in agriculture. To address this challenge, a sustainable radiative cooling mulch (SRCM) is developed from waste maize leaves via spontaneous hydrogen‐bond self‐assembly.

Échelles et représentations de l’« habitation climatique » d’Adolphe Augustin Rey (1905-1908)
The drawn and theoretical work of the French architect Adolphe Augustin Rey (1864-1934) left their mark on the debates on healthy living in the first decades of the twentieth century.

Bifunctional adsorption‐storage films enable autonomous indoor humidity regulation and freshwater harvesting, rapidly decreasing relative humidity from 90.7% to 21.6% within one hour while producing 1.1 kg·m−2·day−1 of water, offering a passive route towards energy‐efficient humidity control and sustainable indoor environments. ABSTRACT Indoor humidity

An Experimental Investigation on the Air Permeability of Passive Ventilation Grilles
AbstractThe need of increasing both energy saving and acoustic insulation has leaded to the design of lowest air permeability frames resulting in the worsening of indoor air quality. Moreover, sometime in several civil-use existing buildings (i.e. schools or houses, historical buildings) mechanical ventilation systems cannot be installed due to non ...

A study of passive ventilation integrated with heat recovery [PDF]
To meet the demand for energy demand reduction in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, a novel design incorporating a heat recovery device into a wind tower was proposed. The integrated system uses a rotary thermal wheel for heat recovery at the base of the wind tower.

An implantable phototriggered prodrug depot patch (iPDP) is presented that enables actively programmable drug release post‐implantation. Covalently conjugated prodrug ensures minimal leakage; illumination parameters serve as a code to precisely control dose per release.

Thermal stress in buildings in hot-humid areas is increasing due to climate change. For many situations, mechanical cooling is not sustainable. The concept of passive ventilation is again emerging as an adaptation option, but current reviews address ...
