Direct Passive Navigation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1987
In this correspondence, we show how to recover the motion of an observer relative to a planar surface from image brightness derivatives. We do not compute the optical flow as an intermediate step, only the spatial and temporal brightness gradients (at a minimum of eight points).

Coupled Optical Response of Armchair Graphene Nanoribbons and Single Wall Carbon Nanotube Hybrid Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 22, August 5, 2025.
A strong interaction between the five‐armchair graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and the encapsulating single‐walled carbon nanotubes is identified. A reduction of the bandgap of the hybrid structure as well as additional proof for the single H‐terminations of the GNRs are confirmed through a combination of optical absorbance spectroscopy and density ...

Heterojunction Derived Efficient Charge Separation for High Sensitivity Self‐Powered Flexible Photodetectors toward Real‐Time Heart Rate Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 28, July 24, 2025.
Schematic diagram of heart rate monitoring by the flexible self‐powered PDs and 710 nm LED illumination. Abstract Real‐time and accurate heart rate monitoring is crucial in the field of disease prevention and early diagnosis. Compared with the conventional rigid heart rate sensors, wearable flexible devices have unique advantages, such as convenient ...

Revisiting Two Finiteness Phenomena for Mandarin Chinese Complementation Structures: An Empirically Oriented Approach via Systematic Hypothesis Testing

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, Volume 123, Issue 2, Page 213-245, July 2025.
Abstract The literature has debated whether Mandarin Chinese exhibits a finiteness distinction despite the absence of overt tense and agreement marking. Huang (2022), along with other Generative studies, has re‐affirmed this distinction and repeatedly rejected Hu et al. (2001), which presents opposing views.

How Does Speaking A Free Word Order Language Influence Sentence Planning and Production? Evidence From Pitjantjatjara (Pama‐Nyungan, Australia)

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 49, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Sentence production is a stage‐like process of mapping a conceptual representation to the linear speech signal via grammatical rules. While the typological diversity of languages is vast and thus must necessarily influence sentence production, psycholinguistic studies of diverse languages are comparatively rare.
